I wanted to ask if anyone has had any experience with speeding tickets in Illinois recently ? I have had my fare share of them but last Saturday Morning I got a big one. Highway was wide open and I got on it. I know not smart but what can I say I have a heavy foot. Got caught doing 32mph over and not using my turn signal while switching lanes. This much over now is a class B misdemeanor 40mph over is a class A misdemeanor . I am wondering if anybody has got caught going this fast or more and what kind of fine and punishment should I expect?
Reading the second link makes it sound like it is a pretty serious offense. The officer did tell me make sure you get a lawyer cause at that speed it is considered a class b misdemeanor which the court does not take lightly.
I know and what kills me it was not in even in my Vette which is a lot more tempting too put down the lead foot in.
Btw it was in Cook county.
Your golden then, cook can give a rats azz. You shouldnt have any problem getting it reduced to a petty offense, a fine and supervision............but a traffic attorney would help vastly in getting you the best "deal". You really dont have anything to worry about in cook co, ive seen people well into triple digits walk away with a slap on their wrist.
Mailgator that brings some relief. I hope your right. I am definitely gonna bring an attorney.
If it was any other county, you might have an issue. Cook cant even incarcerate people that kill another, your speeding violation is peanuts to them. They want you in the courtroom, right out and off to the clerks office with money. It sucks that its going to cost you money, but considering its a misdemeanor and I see people getting hammered in other counties for the same offense, I would be thankful that you can make it go away with money. Id say you are looking at around 400ish for the fine and court costs, plus what your attorney charges (he should easily be able to broker a deal for you on the first court date and be done with it). Just make sure you are careful the next 6-12 months on your supervision period, if you get another speeder, then this current ticket wont disappear and your insurance company can stick it to you.
Curious, where did you get the ticket? 294 given where you live?

My son's recent traffic issues where taken care of with a good traffic attorney and no future issues, if had he had these issues outside of Cook he would be without his DL for at least six months. In Cook he was able to get the tickets dismissed.
It was on the 294 in between the willow rd. and gold rd. exit heading southbound. The court case is at the old orchard courthouse in skokie.
It sucks to have to pay the fines and Lawyer but as long as I can keep it of my record and get supervision that would be good. Jzubik was your son going over 30mph?

Nope, but he was driving on a suspended DL due to FTA on another ticket. If he was caught outside of Cook he would have had an automatic suspension. The attorney was able to get the orignal tickets dismissed and then he was able to get the tickets for driving on suspended DL thrown out. Would not have happened in Lake or DuPage.
