Avatar size so small?

Avatar size so small?
I don't want to sound stupid, but why will my Avatar upload only except this tiny a## image. Mine was bigger before, and now it will only upload 29.3k??? It took me forever to size it down to a point that it would accept.
What am i missing?
I see everyones Avatar is SIGNIFIGANTLY bigger.
It says 150 pixels by 150 pixels, but i can not get anywhere near that size or it says I have exceeded the size limit.
I had been meaning to become a "supporting member" and did so, but that still does not allow me to put up a "normal size" avatar?
Anyone else experience this?

Supporting members may have an animated avatar, but that is the only difference between them and regular members...and it still has to meet the size restrictions.
I don't see anything wrong with the one you have now. It is 150x118 and 13.5k.
