Help Please?
I have a young friend that got killed last Sunday night driving his car here in Prescott AZ. This kid was very responsible, didn't drink or take drugs, always drove below the speed limit and never broke the law.
Coming home from work about 8:30PM, his car was estimated going between 60 and 80mph, hit a dip, went airborne and hit a tree, he was on life support until he died later that night. The investigating police report just stated it was caused by a 20 year old speeding and lost control. His parents, friends and everybody that knew him knew this wasn't right, we knew something had to be wrong with the car. The police even admitted the throttle was stuck open, saying that could have happened from the whole front end and engine being broken away from the car, it was actually in three separate pieces. We believe the throttle stuck after he started accelerating up a hill from a stop sign at the bottom of the hill. By the time he hit the top the car was probably going 50mph or more and that's where it picked up more speed and then hit a dip at a cross street shortly after. The car continued for another 100 yard and hit a tree.
My request is to ask somebody with a Carfax account to please run the VIN on this 1995 Lincoln for me. We want to see if there is any record reported of throttle problems with this car over the last 14 years. The VIN is 1LNLM91V7SY652937
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
