I hope that I can express my disappointment with the search function; without making this sound like a personal assault on the people responsible for the site improvements.
The bottom line, for many of us; is that usage of this site includes the ability to easily search through archives and recent posts in order to use this site to its fullest capability. We know the information is available, and with the old search function we were able to locate that information.
Unfortunately, the current search function is not working to our expectations.
Is this current level of upgrade what we can expect to remain; or is there a move to correct its deficiencies?
Ditto. As a vendor, the poor performance (or non existence) of the search engine has really been hard to swallow. I'm all for improving the site, but....this has been a steady problem for a very long time.

Let's be honest here, This is a royal clusterfarq. All these updates and nothing has been fixed since they took over. For a company that is supposed to be internet based their "techs" sure are proving their incompetance in their chosen field.
I am still getting Database errors and I dare say they have INCREASED since this supposed "upgrade" of software and hardware. I am finding it very annoying. As for the search function, It is a non-function STILL, I do searches and 9 times out of 10 it comes back blank. Hell I did a search on 1993 corvette a little while back and it came back with NOTHING. Then I did the search again and it came back chock full.

Come on ... this is what happens when 1 company buy's a ton of small businesses too fast ... my bet is that they have 1 "tech" who is really just the "tech guy" cause he knows a little UNIX
Not only does IB own Cf, they a number of other car forums. And they also own the forum software vBulletin and it's been around for a number of years.
I had read earlier that some other IB-owned car forums are having similar problems.
It's hard to say whether or not CF is on separate servers or shared by some other forum. Given the number of transactions, members and the size of the database, I would expect that CF would (or should) have their own servers.
IIRC, the version of vBulletin being used was supposed to have been a Beta version and we were the test site. There was a test version available to the supporting members early last year. It looks like CF is using v.3.7.2 and I am on some forums that use later versions. Don't know if that's relevant but there has to be reasons why certain forums run different versions/updates.
While I really don't have a lot of problems with the search engine (don't use it a lot) and I can get past the database error screens, I think it would be nice if IB provided some sort of status report (monthly? quarterly?) and maybe some information regarding where they are trying to improve CF in terms of functionality and performance.

We don't need status reports, we need a site that works...

This is ridiculous, We post our complaints in the PROPER forum and get ZERO response, I bet if I posted these rants in OT I would get a response in less than 10 minutes, Sure it would probably be a PM telling me I was banned but at least I would get a response.

Either that or they'd simply ask for pics of your wife, sister, etc.
And yes, I agree this is getting out of hand. My first click into the forum....database error.
Fatal error: Unable to connect to memcache server in [path]/includes/class_datastore.php on line 224
If I was a vendor I would be PIZZED considering Ihaven't seen any vendors listed in the left pane for at LEAST 3 days now
As a person that is on and off here during the business day (9-530 EDT)
For the last few years one thing is getting more noticeable.
The amount of posts/threads is down considerably and many people that I used to see posting are either not posting at all or are posting much less.
Me I’m retired and have the time.
It’s almost like the owners are doing their best to reduce this forum in size and value.
I’m very far from a geek, but I can still make a observation!
I also post on a few other forums (some are IB) but none have the problems this one does.
I was just getting ready to become a Supporter just when the major troubles started as I really enjoy the topics we have here, but am so glad I waited just a bit longer.
