Default Staying logged in

Several of you have reported issues with staying logged in. I gather the issue is intermittent and affects only some Forum users.

We have been passing those complaints along to IB for review by the tech team. We've heard back now that the techies have not been able to replicate the problem.

They have asked our help in providing the following information from people who report the issue:

1. Date/time

2. Browser

3. Username

4. What action they were taking before the timeout

If you have experienced this problem, please post those details to this thread.

Thanks.

Comments: I would login in with my username and password and the site would immediately redirect me to the login screen again. It would show the accepted message "Thanks for logging in, Chaney300" then it would show the forum for a few seconds then "boom" immediately kick me out and go to the login screen.

Time: 10:37 pm Eastern Zone

Browser: Internet Explorer 8 - Note: this has also happend on a computer with FireFox

Action: Trying to click on a thread in the Southeast section

Comments: All looked fine until and the forum showed me logged in. I clicked on the Florida Events thread and I was logged out. This was the 1st action I made after I logged in.
I tried to log in again at 10:30, 10:40 & 10:41 and it will not allow me to log in. It looks like it is going to let me log in, but at the top of the page it does not say yellowvette837, it shows the screen with the user name and password at the top of the page.

Comments: Logged in with my user name and password. It displayed the accepted message "Thanks for logging in, Rick T" then when it came back from the "redirect" I was back where I started with no evidence I had logged in. I immediately logged in again but checked the "Remember Me" box and everything worked fine after that. The "Remember Me" has been my fix for every occasion of this issue. I've never used the "Remember Me" before this problem came up in early December.

The "Remember Me" check does not work for me .
It seems if I just keep trying to log in, eventually I will "actually" get logged in and stay logged in when I click something.

You can check the remember me box or you check it and it still doesn't remember you? Do you have a program on your computer that blocks cookies? Do you log off from Corvetteforum before you leave the site?

8:55 CST. Remember me is checked but has not worked in 4 weeks. I check it every time. Logged out of this thread and then clicked back in to reply and I was no longer shown as logged in. Clicked out and back in and was logged in. I have cookies and no software that blocks them. Sometimes l go from cnn or Fox web-sites back to CF but don't log out.

UPDATE 9:02...Clicked into prc and was no longer logged in. Clicked back to this thread to update and was not logged in. Logged in 6 times before my name popped up succesfully even though every log in was accompanied by the thank you for logging in message. Did not leave the forum site

Default Logging in?

I'm heartened to see that I wasn't the only one yesterday with this problem but obviously not heartened by the problem? I hope this is figured out promptly!

Don't bet on it as it's been going on for a month for me. Since it happens every time I try to log in I along with many others I find it problemtic the techs can't duplicate it.

j.t how about an update now that we've provided you with the info you requested?

Sorry, I'm not involved on this. I try to assist, as I can, with topics from experience.

Honestly, I do not have this issue. I use FireFox 3.5.7 (was 3.5.6 up until lastnight) and I have not been logged out or had any issue logging in. There was one exception, and that was when the Tech Team updated the links on the forum and things went wrong. The changes were reverted that same day, and the issue I experienced (as others did) was resolved.

I've logged out, purposely, cleared cookies and cache, and logged into this site without issue and have not gotten logged out. In other words, the issue is not being duplicated for me with normal usage.

Waited a while and Tried to log in at 6:50 (checked "Remember Me"), and at 6:52. I was finally able to log in, I was finally able to log in a 6:53(checked "Remember Me"), this is the 1st time "Remember Me" has worked.

Kimberly, try closing the browser without logging off. Then, see if you are "remembered" the next time you come to Corvetteforum.

JT is knowledgeable about computers and vBulletin software, so he's been generous with his time and advice when people report issues in this section. He's not a part of the IB tech team, however, so is not involved in resolving the problem.

The problem on identifying and resolving this issue has to do with the fact that most users of the Forum are not having the problem and the IB tech team has not been abe to replicate the problem.

It's further complicated by the fact that the problem seems to come and go.

That's why the tech team has asked for specific information as noted above in order to try to determine a common denominator that might lead them to a solution.
