It means they have set themselves as Invisible. This means that you won't be able to see whenever they're signed onto the forums (unless you are staff) as they won't appear online. The setting is in the UserCP section under the Edit Options and "Use Invisible Mode".

Can you please provide an example?

It actually is it. When a users sets themselves as invisible, the "last visit" date is not in the profile. That's actually how vBulletin is coded and it makes sense. If a user does not wish others to know when they're browsing the forum, then it wouldn't make much sense if anyone can view their last visit date, which is updated in real-time when the user is actually visiting.

But please provide an example of a profile that shows not last visit date, and how you are determining if the user is actually on and offline and I'll look into it.

OK here you go...I see certain members reply in threads when I look sometimes I see them on line and their on line light is green(not red invisible). Then there are times I will see the same user in a thread offline their on line light is off or grayed out. When I change my own user profile to invisible in my profile my on line light is always red and it still shows "last activity" status. I hope I made myself clear.
I have not seen any area in the control panel that specific to "last activity" status.

Thanks for trying to help answer my question, just very curious as how some members show and some don't show "'last activity" in their profile.

Ron

I am a bit confused on your response. But here is how it works.

When a user sets themselves to Invisible mode (User CP, Edit Options and "Use Invisible Mode"), that user's online status will never be shown to other regular users. Regular users will always see those people as offline (gray indicator). In addition, those users who have set Invisible mode will not have a last visit/activity date shown on their profile to other users.

Now, there is an override. Staff can see people who have elected to be Invisible mode. Those people who have elected be Invisible mode will show up as a red status icon to not only staff but to themselves. Staff, as well as themselves, will also see a last visit/activity date on the profile. However, no regular member can see another member online if they have elected to be invisible.

I think this is why you are confused. You set yourself to Invisible Mode and you can see your own online status (last activity/visit date in your profile, and a red icons status). No regular user will see this. Only the person who sets themselves to Invisible Mode will see their own status, as well as staff.

Gotcha, on the setting myself as invisible status, but again the members in question I see on line as well as offline status(so guessing they do not have themselves set as invisible) as they I guess sign or off but never see their "last activity" status.

As I previously asked, please provide an example of a user who you can see online, but you cannot see their last activity status in their profile.

Actually, that account is set to "Invisible Mode". I hate to provide specifics, for privacy, but as I said above - there is a "loophole" with vBulletin in that anyone who has set themselves as Invisible will mean they don't show any last activity date on their profile - so that is a tip off that anyone can know about.

Any others?

Ok...but my confusion is with the fact that when these members are in a thread I do see them on line and then other times I see them offline ...it's just weird.I would think if they were invisible they would always appear offline????

If a user is set to Invisible, you will only see the "offline" indicator. You won't see the red indicator for any other user. Only staff, and people who are invisible and view their own posts will see the red indicator.

If you are seeing an account without a last activity date, but you see an occasional green (online) status for that same account, then I can only assume they may be turning the Invisible feature off and on for some reason.
