Dunno what you guys are doing at this site but my office computer, which is heavily filtered and protected by the way, began immediately disconnecting from CF today with the message "Operation Aborted." It usually does that when sites ar trying to send through junk or cookies or something like that. It didn't even start to load, it disconnected as soon as I put in my ID and password and hit "Enter."
The site, much like any website today, does make use of features such as cookies. Cookies can be harmless as they're used to remember certain preferences (such as your log in information so that you don't have to continue to reenter your username/password) as well as technical features to keep track of your activity on the forum (such as remembering what thread you've recently read to mark it as read so that you know what you did and didn't read).
It sounds like your computer is pretty restricted, and your IT department may have done this on purpose to not only protect their systems, but some do so to prevent employees from doing personal computer work while on company time or company machines.
Unfortunately, there probably isn't much that CF can do in such situations as it's really between you and your employer and your IT department that manages the computers and traffic to those computers.

We can go on the web at will but some links or sites are aborted. Many of the links on CNN and Fox are aborted and Drudge is sometimes a problem. But when I stopped by CF today, I couldn't get in. First time with this problem.
I understand. It's possible there was a change on CF or within the network, just as much possible that your IT department may have updated or changed their filter. Unfortunately, I don't believe there is much CF can do because we don't know exactly what is being filtered by your IT department. Your IT department is probably the only help on stating what's exactly being blocked.

My computer is NOT RESTRICTED and I delete all cookies but still have no connection
Using IE8 with latest updates after I log on get Operation Aborted or page not found. If I don't log on dont get this error. Just started happening yesterday. Please look in to this as I see I am not the only user getting these messages.
My mistake. There is an "Operation Error" message in IE and we've encountered this before. I thought the you was referencing your IT department using a custom filter to block sites and/or content to protect their equipment and/or their employees from activities.
Do you happen to have IE7? If so, you may need to upgrade as Microsoft has a bulletin about this issue with IE7 and that it's fixed in IE8: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927917
