Default ad.doubleclick.net

Am I the only person who is ticked off because I can no longer use the backspace key or the back arrow on internet explorer to get back to the previous page because of ad.doubleclick.net???

If I have to page up to the top and click on the C3 General link every time and then scroll down and try to find the last thread I viewed I'm going to lose interest in the forum. It's a PITA.

If enough people stop coming it will kill the best Corvette forum.

I don't have that problem in firefox or chrome. Maybe time to dump IE?

I didn't even know they still made Internet Explorer. I had to double check to make sure that post wasn't from 1997.

I did some website development 10 years ago and I always made sure my designs worked in all the major browsers that were in use at the time. You shouldn't have to switch browsers so that something works.

It's not specific to any browser. It's a Google ad mining service that CF uses amongst a bunch of others and at times it just hangs from overload.
That's how they make their money and keep it free.
It is annoying and to make it worse they deny it and lead people to believe it's on their end.
It's not, don't waste time chasing your tail.

I was just trying to fix this problem with my computer and visiting this site when I read your post. I put the ad.doubleclick.net in my restricted sites, so we'll see what happens. Let me know how you fix it.

Two addon from Chrome. Adblock Plus that you can add your own custom site too and Disconnect.

Disconnect is unbelievable and even block Facebook from spying on you. I had to tweak it a little because it would block YouTube URL's from this site.

That's not a very good solution. It takes you back to the top of the first page for the forum. You still have to scroll down to find the last thread you read and possibly go to the second or subsequent page. Backspace takes you back to the page you came from and it is at the same position as when you left.

It's still a PITA to scroll down so graying out the ones I read is only minimally helpful. I see the new threads the next time I log in.

This hanging up BS happens to me at least a couple times a day HERE, ONLY HERE!

Note I jump back and forth/on and off between different websites and being away from the computer most all business days.

When I get hung up by doubeclik the thing that works the best for me is hit the REFRESH button. Then after being "refreshed" the back button normaly works like its supposed to, and you come back to where you are working the forum.

So apparently the forum's way of handling issues is to move the problem to a place where it won't get much attention. If losing revenue is the issue, just be aware that I scanned the entire forum in about 10 minutes instead of my usual couple of hours. How did I do it? I just scanned all the titles and decided that most of them weren't worth the aggravation that doubleclick has been causing me. Oh well, that's a couple of hours a day of free time.
