It seems that newby's have a problem with posting a reply or a question to very old threads, apparently thinking someone is still monitoring those old posts. Would it be practical to lock a thread when it gets to be maybe a year and a half or two years old?

At one time threads were locked and/or discouraged from being replied to if the content was old.

However, that has changed within the past 2 or so years because some old threads contain good information and/or can benefit from being updated.

By the way, many members do use some sort of notification so even older threads might be monitored. If members don't want that, they can selectively remove notification for specific threads and/or change their global settings in UserCP for notifications.
