I know this has been gone over, but does anyone know of a surefire method to post a new profile pic.
I tried direct (upload failed) and 3 web photo services. (Flickr, Shutterfly and Photobucket) and got improper file type.
I had reduced the pic to 248 x 150 pixels as well.
Thanks in advance!

If you tried direct upload, how was you able to reduce the size? That's not an option.

You must make sure the image is actually within the size limitations and JPG format.

I'd also make sure to read the following Sticky to make sure you understand the difference between Profile Picture and Avatar:
