How do you get the [update] next to a thread title you started like a month ago. Is that something that has to be asked here?

There is no "update" thread title prefix. So it's manually added. It is not a normal request given if a thread is replied to, the thread is brought back to the top of the index page and also shown with a bold title to the viewer if there is new, unread content.

Note: After X time has passed of the thread being created, you can't edit the thread title as seen in the index listing but only the title as seen in the thread itself. Either way, editing thread title is done doing Edit, Go Advanced.

The reason I asked is I have a thread about my motor going, in a month I plan to give the results of the motor repair. If I just add a reply and the thread goes to the top, people will think it is just a old thread revived. If I show update next to the thread title I am sure to get more interest as people are waiting to see what happened to my motor. Plus after a month can you still edit a thread?, I'm pretty sure you can't edit your posts.

There is no time limit on editing a post itself. Like I said, there is a time limit on editing the thread title as seen in the index forum. That time limit is 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, you can only edit the thread title as seen when viewing the thread itself.

You will need to make the request here or PM a Moderator or Administrator for the title edit.
