Using an animated avatar is no different, upload wise, than the standard avatar as described above.
However, if you're asking how to create one, that goes a bit beyond the scope of the forums and using Google with the appropriate software will likely be necessary as sites like CorvetteForum do not create animated avatars.

AvatarsImages used for avatars should be in good taste. No "babe" pic's, no controversial, suggestive or offensive images or messages are permitted.
Moderators will determine the appropriateness of any avatar, and will remove any avatar deemed in violation.
Images should be limited to no more than 150 pixels wide and should not be vertical images.
Moderators, regional events coordinators, and gold supporting members, are allowed to use animated gifs for their avatars. All others should use .jpg format images.
