Is there any way of knowing if a sent PM has been read ?

Am I missing something obvious ?

At the bottom of the PM you prepare there is a "Request a read receipt for this message" - check the block before sending.

That option is not available to all.

There are so many settings, some yes/no and some self-supplied, that some settings are left as default while others are updated. Some values were set at the time of the software installation, some are set during an upgrade, and some are updated after the fact when it is determined a change would work better with the community. Each community is different. The values are set by Staff (CorvetteForum and Internet Brands).

Even if enabled for all, there's also the option to allow the recipient to deny the request. There can only be one setting per usergroup and so it can't be perfect in all cases. I can't even tell you the last time that I recall this feature being inquired about, atleast to me and this section.
