Yesterday, I inadvertently clicked on, which highlighted my user name, while searching a post. I thought that maybe logging off, and letting it sit overnight, it would be OK today It isn't. Could someone please tell me how to get it back to the normal "black text"?

Kind of like Google searching and blue links turn purple after clicking them to show you've been there.
Try marking all forums read and see if it resets.
It's tied to your browser's history. Only clearing browser's history (not cookies) will reset that.
Mark all forums read simply resets all content to Read status and updates your last visit time. Nothing more.
