C2 front spring color
I'm replacing the front coils on my 1966 small block car with used originals which have the correct ride height and spring rating. I want to keep the car as original as possible whether or not it gets judged. The springs are media blasted and ready to paint. I've been told to stay away from powder coating, and they're certainly not being 'coated' as the factory did.
The Manual says "springs are coated with a rust inhibitor and have a black appearance," which means very little since there are a bunch of 'blacks' available including Gloss, Semi Gloss, Matte, Semi Flat, Underhood Black, Chasis Black, BBQ & Stove Black, Brake Caliper Black, etc.
Does anyone know the most correct 'looking' black enamel I can buy at a retail auto or hardware store? Better yet, can someone who has done this to a similar 'Top Flight' car tell me how the springs were refinished? Any help is much appreciated!
