Steve Stone passed away, 600,000+ miles on his Vette
Steve Stone passed away September 8th. Steve was a legend not only on C1-C2 but was known by many members across all Corvette generations on here.
Steve bought a new '63 at age 18. At the time of his passing he was still driving it, somewhere above 600,000 miles. He and his wife visited all of the lower 48 states and I'm not sure about the other two, and I'm sure he hit many of the Canadian provinces as well. They thought nothing of just jumping in that 60+ year old Vette and running up several hundred miles over a weekend or so. For those of us who feel the Corvette is best enjoyed by driving it, Steve was truly an inspiration.
RIP Steve, we will miss you and your accounts of your travels!
I knew Steve for 25+ years, although were were no longer close due to moving to different parts of the country, we would still talk a few times a year. Always enjoyed those conversations. Anyone who knew him, quickly realized he beat to a different drum, but damn.... That is what made him such a good person!

I did not know Steve, but he sounds like a true Corvette enthusiast and a well liked forum member. His passing is definitely sad news and may he enjoy eternal rest in God’s kingdom.
Soon to be on display at the NCM: This tile will be on the wall in the old entrance into the museum. 4x8 side walk brick, outdoors in front of the new entrance to the museum. Indoors, Corvette Blvd.
OMG I am so sad that I just now found out about Steve’s passing last year. He was my cousin and I had searched for him every once in a while. Do you know how many Steve Stones there are even just in Wisconsin? He was kind enough to give me a ride in the car probably soon after he bought it. I would have been about 8 or 9 and rode on the center console. It left quite an impression on me I guess since I remember it after all these years. Sure wish I had found that video that was made before he died. If anyone knows Marilyn or his kids, please give them my condolences.

Nancy, sorry for your cousin’s passing but glad you were able to find him here.
