First off- I don't own a 'Vette yet--but I'm only a few K away from it.
AND to make matters worse,I've driven a 40hp 1962 VW bug for the last 18 years.
I have never even DRIVEN a c5 .
BUT... I will, soon.
A co-worker of mine got a '99 Nassau Blue Coupe about a year ago, and, when he brought it to work one day-I decided then and there that I was going to have to get one.
Chevy has produced alot of beautiful vehicles in their time, but the c5 'Vette is by far their best effort ever--.
In my opinion, the c5 Corvette is the best looking American car ever--ever.(Especially the White ones)
So...pretty soon I'm going to be a 'Vette owner--but not for a little while--.
I was sputtering along in my VW about a week ago,and a guy in a White c5 waved at me--I told my wife it was an omen --she told me I was full of $hit.
I'm going with the "omen" thing.
White 99FRC -That's the dream--37 years of working,5 kids raised,2 houses bought,29 years of marriage--I don't care what anyone says,I think I deserve a Corvette.
AND-When I finally get one,I know that Anything I may need to know can be found on this forum--You guys are the $hit when it comes to information -
I'll be around, and thanks ahead of time for all the knowledge on this forum--
If you get a wave from an old gray haired guy in an old VW bug-- wave back- we're on the same page !

Welcome to the forum . You've found the right place to get info on an American icon - the Corvette. I think you're right - it's your turn to have a little fun in your life. Good luck and keep us posted.
In '72,when I "went out on my own"-The people nextdoor to my Mom got a Divorce.
She got the house, and she got the '67 'Vette, and Gary got the shaft-
She let that vette sit in the garage till all 4 tires went flat,
and all the liquids started leaking out of it(25 years)-finally sold it FOR $1500.00 in apx.'97.(3700 miles)
Not quite sure what this has to do with anything, but it pi$$es me off just to think about it.....

Dude - you should post this in the C1/C2 Forum... Half those guys will have a coronary.
Aloha and welcome to the CF, anyone who raised 5 children deserves a Vette. May your wife realize what you sacrificed for the family and that now you are deserving of getting your dream machine. Good luck and merry christmas.
Remember that, if you locate a Vette outside of your local area, members here will be happy to check it out for you so that you do not need to buy sight-unseen.
