Sorry I think I posted my introduction in the wrong section of this board, here's a re-post of if. My apologies to any that had to read it twice.
Hello,
I'm from Kansas City, MO; yes I'm aware our sports teams are terrible. I work for Corporate America; so have pity on me and my Corvette story goes like this.
In early fall 1968 my father (aka dad) wisked my mother into the front seat of his 1964 Corvette Stringay FI coupe and later that morning I wet my first diaper. Poor Dad what a dilemma new son - two corvettes (the other a 65 Stringray FI coupe also). 64 had to go; new 69 Chevelle/SS BB ordered (that another story also). August of 69, early morning again - Dad whisks mother away for another last time in the Corvette. Later that morning brother wet his first diaper; later that day 65 was traded for '57 Nomad and cash.
Twenty four years later I rode with my father to purchase my first Corvette a 1981 Coupe, Yellow - 4 sp. for $8500. The trip home I was again following an attraction I had decades - oddly enough Dad must have felt it also; he soon purchased a '63 Converitble, FI w/ the 4sp and the 4:11. Such a outstanding car that was; suddenly I realized that the '81 didn't command such the WOW factor - I had to go older. In 1999, I was given the chance and purchased for $8000.00 a more than decent 1969 Corvette Coupe; 350/350 #'s, 4sp (M21) with the 3:70 gears. No Air, No power brakes, crank windows but at least it had power steering. Late the fall of 1999 I drove my wife to the hospital - she wouldn't have it in a Corvette (something 'bout her children weren't...blah blah blah).
Now I have two children, my wife and a '69 Corvette that has set in my garage for 8 years now and I've am no longer going to let it be the last thing on the list! I swearing on it this time!
I will enjoy meeting you all over the up coming months and I hope you enjoy my follies with my life as a wanna-be Corvette rebuilder...
Yeap, pictures are forth coming. Getting the website setup this week - hopefully so ya'll can keep track of the entire non-original restoration. Yeap I'm one of them guys, taking a #'s matching the wrong way. Don't freak out too much; only the motor and the color won't be factory.
