Don't hate me...
Some of you may have seen Ford's SEMA display when they launched the GT40 a few years ago... It was an all copper 1940 Ford roadster with GT40 drive train and chassis, named "40GT". (google "copper 1940 Ford" if you want to see it). Anyway, I loved to car... but I hate Fords.
I recently was able to buy the sister body to that copper car, It is an all aluminum 100% hand hammered '40 Ford roadster. It was actually supposed to be the SEMA car, but FoMoCo felt it photographed too "cold" to complete, so they changed to copper. Anyway, I have the body now and I am planning on a complete C5 transplant. Should come in a little under 2,000 pounds, and should be pretty funny to watch Ford die hards get all excited when they see it expecting to see Ford's finest only to find out its all Chevy!
If I get allot of negative feedback I will withdraw from this forum as I don't want to pollute your site, and out of respect for your forum and its members....
What do you think? I'll add pictures and details if interested (wheelbase is almost perfect )..

Safety Car
Aloha and welcome to the CF, that is one helluva project that you will be undertaking. Ford body with an all Chevy drivetrain, that will certainly surprise the blue oval boys. Yes, on the pictures as you are a part of this board now and surprise other Vette owners by waving.

Copper '40 link
Here is a link to a "40GT" article.

Please try to look past all the blue ovals in the back ground. My body was made off of the same bucks, so it is almost exactly the same, except I have a stock looking windshield rather then the Duvall style on the copper car. I have contacted several shops about the tube chassis, and it seems that SRIII has the best understanding of what I want to do.
I will attach aluminum pictures once I post to a web site.

Hello, and Welcome to the forum!
You definitely have an interesting project at hand! There are plenty of modifieds/hot rods/crusiers/etc that have a Chevy powerplant under the hood with another manufacturer chassis and body. But, you will cetainly have a very unique ride that surely get the interests of folks from both the GM and Ford camps. Best of luck with your project!

pictures posted...
I put some pictures in the CF picture post area "Non-Corvette Galleries / Other Cars / Alloy40"
They are pending approval, so you might have to check it later.
The body was made in Poland at a pre-cold war Mig fighter factory. Post cold-war they make aluminum Cobra bodies and concept car bodies for Detroit and others... My guess is that it weighs about 200 pounds as me and a buddy can easily pick it up and move it. It has a chrome-olly sub structure which the doors, hood and deck lid are hinged from. It is almost 12" wider than a stock '40, this was done to fit the GT40 transaxle. No firewall, trunk, or floor so the chassis should be pretty simple. Now, where to get the donor C5?.. e-bay?

Welcome to the forum. Man, I looked at that car and the first thing that it reminded me of was the shark on the Finding Nemo movie. The front end looks like his face. I'm not knocking the car, I think it will be a pretty sweet ride, especially with the Chevy drive train tucked underneath it all. Good luck on your,,,,,,shark...
