Hello to everyone.
My name is Rich and I live in Plainview, NY (Long Island). After 43 years of driving, I finally ordered the car I always wanted but couldn’t afford. Actually, I still can’t afford it (by myself). However, my daughter Jenn who still lives at home with my wife and I, had an idea. Her lease is ending soon on her G35 Sedan and she was looking to lease a new Infiniti Coupe, but couldn’t afford it. She also liked the Corvette but really couldn’t afford it. Soooooo, she said, “Dad, why don’t we lease a new Corvette together as our daily driver and split the cost of everything”. We will alternate driving to work between my current car, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and the Corvette. She suggested getting a 2007 model to possibly save some money but I said the 2008 has a few improvements over the 2007 (like 30 HP and other things) and worth the extra money. I was surprised that my wife even agreed with this whole thing.
So on Feb 10th we ordered a 2008 Atomic Orange Coupe. It’s a 2LT, A6 with Polished Aluminum Rims and we’ll lease it for 60 months with an option to buy at lease end. I test drove one at the dealer the day we ordered it. “HOLY CRAP –THIS THING IS A ROCKET”. We were given a TBW of March 31. It has been a painfully long wait but I’m sure it will be worth it. Probably another 3 weeks till we get it.
I’ve been reading a lot of posts on different topics here on the Forum and have learned a lot. I’ve planned a few bolt-on mods but nothing major. I’ve already purchased a Vararam CAI.
I’ve had numerous cars and have been into cars all my life. I do all the work on my cars and I still have my first car – a 1955 Chevy Belair 2DR HT – which is in the midst of an off the frame rebuild. ( 408 SBC, Tremec 5 spd, Moser 60 rear, P/S box, QA1 Coilovers, Tubular A-arms, 13” disc brakes, etc.)
Well enough of me running on here. Once I, I mean we, get the new Vette we’ll post some pics and I’m sure I‘ll be posting some questions too. We’re looking forward to the Corvette experience.
