1980 tachometer reset

1980 tachometer reset
When I have to jump my car off or when I change a battery I have to reset my tachometer. I can do this by turning the key on, but not starting the engine. The tach needle will be all the way over like it is redlined. Then I remove the tach needle and put it back on at zero rpm. Is there another way to reset the tachometer? Thank you.
