Sounds like you're on to something. I know I had fun w/tons of em. Started out C3 with a 68 Vert 427/390. One of my buddies had a coupe version 435. He also had a 66 BB at the same time that had been stolen/recovered. It was me following him in that 66 on the Interstate Va into Md that got me in deep trouble. In short, we had been drinking. On way home on a rainy eve @ high spd I lost it on a curve and went one side of the 'I' to the other. That was in my GT500 which was my follow-up car (influenced by another good friend that had a 500). Was so lucky not to hit anyone or anything.

Worked for the Sheriff (county jail of all places) at the time and my new prospective employer, the police dept, got wind of it from Md State Police. That was the near the beginning of the end of my drinking days. It was a culture back then i.e. Army, family, after hrs. The powers to be gave me one free pass w/strings attached on that indiscretion.

There are tons more stories but everyone has them. Me thinks the C3 is a great vette. I got a CF buddy that's into em too. What I like most abt them is the funny car front end. Nice long stretch. Looked at pics I took at our last years Oct Vette event and a blk one really holds it's own amongst the 200+ Vettes @ Sandestin, FL. At some point I'll put some of my C3 pics in the Avatar. I did my first vette that way and RATMOTORTOM discovered it living in Ohio w/the VIN.

Well, gotta check the Z's out on C5 as I do daily.

John
Long story short, I was always into cars, even when I was little. I was about 7 or 8 years old and saw a yellow c3 for sale downtown. I just loved the looks of it and HAD to have one. That's all I talked about, until right before my 16th birthday, when my dad brought home a red 1980 (the one in my avatar photo). One of the happiest days of my life. I only had it for about 4 or 5 months before I came to my dad's one day to pull it out of the garage. He threw a pack of photos of it to me and said, "There's all that's left of your precious car". Turns out he only got it for me to try to bribe me to live with him, to hurt my mom. The bribe didn't work, so he had to "show me" and get rid of it. He sold his house too and left the state shortly after. I cringe just thinking about the whole ordeal.

I've been looking for that particular car since, but it's no easy task without the VIN. I have a set of keys for it still. I wonder if I could get the VIN from my insurance company or the place he bought it from? Not sure how long they keep records or if they will even talk to me since it was in his name. Oh well, I kind of want a black one this time

I'd put the past behind you and go on a mission to find the right blk C3 since you mentioned it.

Great color that comes standard w/high maintenance. PM if I can help on some picks.

And make sure you check in with C3 discussion/FS
