I'm in need of a new hobby and some fun driving. Was considering buying a 72 convertible stingray that looked beautiful but I did not enjoy the ride. Now considering an 84. Any words of advice?
Don't rush and buy the first one you like, it's a buyers market. Make sure you research the generation you want before you buy one and know the particular trouble spots to check.
I have a C3 and a C4 - the C4 is more comfortable for long trips due to ride and handling as well as the fact it has AC.
But the C3 is more fun to drive and attracts more attention. My C3 actually has a pretty good ride so I wouldn't judge the C3 ride by the the one '72 you drove - a lot of 'Vettes have been beaten.
I wouldn't buy the 1st year of any car - and the '84 is the 1st year of the C4 generation, but that's just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you decide.
Welcome to the Forum I drove 1 C3 and a couple of C4s before buying the car I have now. The ride, handling and power was better in the C4 but to be fair like JW3101 mentioned, that C3 had seen better days so I don't know that was a fair comparison. Generally speaking the newer the better because with each generation improvements and up grades were made. It depends how much money you want to spend and how a car was taken care of during it's life span. All Corvettes are good so just look for one that's been well maintained. Good luck with your search.
Welcome to the Corvette Forum - As you've already seen, lots of great information & knowledgeable Vette owners here! I have an iron butt from driving my C-1!
