Hello fellow Vette lovers and owners (I am a potential). I am stopping by today to learn more about the car from previous and current owners and to get some advice as well. I contacted a dealer about a unit they have in stock that was a recent GM buy back. The dealer provided info stating that the car was bought back because the previous owner had issues shifting the manual tranny. He also stated that GM replaced the 3rd/4th gear syncro assembly. I'm no mechanic, so forgive me if I seems to believe that is a minor issue. The car is a 2010 GS with 3LT option group. The car has a bit over 16K on the odometer. The dealer is asking $37,999, which is about 12 grand below market value for a clear title car. The car still has a bit of warranty remaining and I have inquired with the dealer about extending it. I came here because I am actually getting impatient waiting the dealer response with the holiday and all.
I was wondering if any of you all are current owners of buy back cars and if the majority of you believe that a buyback would be okay as long as a warranty still exists. I am currently leaning towards making the 2 hour drive to take a test drive this week. I want to believe that the dealer may be able to certify the car (if buy backs qualify). If they can do that, I will likely lean towards making an offer.
Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Welcome! Sorry I can't help with the buy back experience. I would just be sure that you try to negotiate an extended warranty as part of the deal. Good luck!
Well, after spending several minutes searching the forum about buybacks, I noticed that the forum members are mostly against taking such a plunge. I will research more to see if the car is titled a lemon or branded. The dealer did not seem to believe so and also mentioned that the warranty was still legit. I hear most saying that there are many great deals out there.....I just don't see them locally.
Welcome to the Forum!!!!! While it's true that most here are against getting involved with buy backs, this one with a shifting problem may not be that big a deal. It's all but impossible to give you sound advice without knowing the details of what the original owner complained about, how he drove the car, what he expected from the car and what the dealer did to try to rectify it as well as how competent the dealer was. Some dealers can't change oil correctly on these cars let alone understand actual or imagined problems. Do your research, test it, get as much detailed info as you can and come back here and post in the C6 General Forum. We may be able to come to a reasonably accurate conclusion. Good luck. Enjoy the Forums.
