Hi, my names Kevin from Grand Rapids, MI and im 22 hence the username. So I have been waiting for about 4 years now to buy another performance vehicle, my first was a 86 mustang that I built during highschool. I sold it my first year of college and since have had the itch to go fast. Itch is an understatement since my daily driver is an 08 cobalt. I recently graduated from college and landed a great job, have my housing and other ducks in a row. Now I need the car, and I toyed with the idea of a terminator mustang, ive been all over ls1tech looking at camaros and firebirds. However after this past weekend I took vacation time to visit the corvette holy ground in Bowling Green. Since then the spark I felt as kid looking at corvettes has ben ignited. So now I am on here doing my research on what to look for when buying, in my case a 01-04 Z06. I figure if I am going to buy something with an LS it may as well be a Vette . I would also like to kill the stereotype that only mid life crisis men buy corvettes. So any advice I could get would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the Forum!!!! Wow, just 22, college grad, have "housing AND other ducks in a row"! I'm impressed and envious. Congratulations on your accomplishments! Have fun with your research and good luck with your purchase. Enjoy the Forums.
I've been extremely lucky to land this job, and housing wise I plan on renting for a while haha. I just figure if I were willing to spend in the low 20's between a loan and cash, why not go after a Z06 since they seem to be in that range due to the poor market. Thank god for insurance rates based on it being a pleasure vehicle vs a daily driver. Its the only way I could afford it.
Kevin - From a fellow Michigander who bought his first vette many years after his mid-life crisis, WELCOME to the Forum, and congrats on doing what most of us wished we had done - purchased their first Vette at 22.
Thank you very much, you only live once so while I have the means before I have a family I may as well buy the toy. Speaking of Michgan do you know of any corvette clubs around the Kzoo/GR area. Oh and by the way everyone, The corvette museum is building a SCCA approved track right by the factory for those of you that dont know or haven't made a recent visit the the corvette holy land haha.

The Kalamazoo Corvette Club - K.C.C. - is one of the oldest in the country (est. 1960). Check it out at http://www.kzoovette.org/
