Hi, I have been reading the forum for a while now and finally signed in.
I have wanted a vette for decades now and finally took the plunge. I knew I wanted one to play with, soooo after much deliberation decided on an 81.
After all, anything you do to a 190 hp 81 is an improvement right?
I got a good deal on one from a buddy who had it sitting in his garage for the past 20 years under a cover. Finally talked him out of it.
After charging the battery I drove it home. Not bad except for the automatic transmission.
I am currently putting in a brand new Super T10 four speed, and have rebuilt the suspension, brakes and all the small stuff.
I have cast iron vortec heads for it, Holley 600 cfm, and hooker headers and sidepipes.
Before being put in storage my buddy had a new short block put in the car with a mild cam. I'm not worried about the bottom end, but absolutely MUST raise the horsepower.
Is really coming along nicely and I have a lot of people on this forum to thank who I gleaned a lot of info from.
