Hello, I am new to this forum, but have been a car guy all my life. For inexplicable reasons, I have developed a desire to buy a C6. As I have absolutely no experience or familiarity with the C6's, I have a lot of questions, which I will submit over time, your acceptance permitting.
My uneducated preference at this time is the 6 speed manual, but I have some concerns. First, I live in the SFV (LA) area and traffic is a biitch. Secondly, for the sake of discussion, let us assume that most C6's have been driven enthusiastically. It would seem logical that the manual transmission cars, on average, would have been driven more aggressively than the automatics. What is the life expectancy of the C6 clutch and how costly is it to have it replaced when needed? How bullit proof are are the automatics?
What is the most common drive train failure in the C6's, both manual and automatic?
In that same vein, what are the most common failures of any type on the C6's?
All comments and suggestions will be most welcome.
Welcome to the Forum!!! (former Thousand Oaks resident here ) There IS LOTS to learn about the C6 so just dedicate as much time as you can to reading and asking questions in the C6 General Forum. There are lots of great folks in there willing and able to help......and give solicited and unsolicited opinions. Best of luck with your research and purchase. Enjoy the Forums.
Thanks for all the 'welcomes', they are most appreciated. I will repost to the (hopefully) correct forum and will also try not to wear you guys/gals out with too many stupid newbie questions.
If I hadn't spent most of my formative years fooling around with British cars, I would probably have fewer questions.

I got a sudden urge to buy a Corvette last November and in a few days located a 2009 coupe with 5,100 miles. I also wanted a shift for the full experience. However, I live in Ohio and we don't have traffic here.
I just flew in from LA about 2 hours ago. This trip was out to the Covina area; last trip had me out to Moorpark. If I lived in LA I would go with an automatic. Your traffic is brutal but your weather is great so you'll want to drive it a lot but traffic will make driving a stick more of a chore (I think).
Just me, but if I lived in your area I'd get a vert with an auto.
Welcome to the forum. I had manual tranny cars for about 30 years, but even just the moderate amount of stop-n-go traffic in this town has caused me to stick to automatic tranny cars for the last few years.
