Default New old guy

1st time logging in,Looking for my last Vette.I got my first one , a 65 roadster in 1972 when I was seventeen.I brought it home and my dad asked me if I could take it back! It was an ex show car with the front hood contour reshaped into a scoop and the front fender vents glassed over and removed. The wheel wells had four inch flares glassed in and the car was painted plum crazy purple with a white button and tuck interior. It had a 327 with a four speed. It was the best damn car I ever had.Later in life I bought a year old seventy seven and fifteen years ago I had a eighty nine six speed.I kept each one two years and moved on.
Now I am fifty eight and disabled and decided to get one last Vette.I am looking for a 55 to a 67 automatic .I want a driver ,no trailer queen .I drive my cars and get the most enjoyment I can from them. My 65 had side pipes and they sounded great on hot summer nights with the top off and the sound of the exhaust hitting the blacktop as I drove the West Virginia highways was undescribable .
I owned a salvage yard and a body shop here in north Florida since 1990 and shut it all down a few years ago when my health went south. Now my wife is fighting cancer so both of us are on borrowed time so to speak.I am not looking for a car to impress anyone ,I could care less about that or whether it has the original drive train .I want a driver ,something that is reliable enough that my wife and I can take down the west coast of Florida and enjoy the sunsets.
Back in 1982 I restored a 1956 Belair to mint condition ,then I drove it for my main ride for four years.I only sold it so I could have some start up money for my wife and I since we had just got together.I have had just about every brand of car that they make but if you cut me I will bleed bowties ,I am a diehard Chevy guy.If I can't find an early Vette I will settle for a 55 Belair. With any luck I will find a Vette.
