I was never in the market for a Corvette. I feel like it's a man's car. My cousin bought a 2001 Corvette last January and when driving it from Florida to Wyoming in July, he stopped in to visit me. He threw me the keys and said "here, take it for a spin!" I asked him if he trusted me with his car and he said "Implicitly".
Well, that's all she wrote. I fell in love with his car. The throaty sound, the power, the beauty. I had to have one. Had to.
I tried to put it off....tried to forget about it...but I was unsuccessful. So, I put in an order for what I wanted (lower mileage, manual tranny).
I wanted to buy a car on my birthday, my 57th.
So, as of last Thursday, I am the proud, and still a little stunned, owner of a 2003 black Corvette coupe. In the mid 90s, I used to attend high-performance driving events each summer at Heartland Park Topeka racetrack in my BMW and RX7. Now that I have a decent racetrack-worthy vehicle, I plan to get involved in high performance driving again. It is a thrilling way to spend time with a fine, high-performance car!
And I've decided it's not a man's car after all. I get in that car and I own it. She is mine. Yes, my legs are way too short but I can handle it.
I've already learned quite a bit from you all in perusing the forums.
I look forward to reading more!
