I am the original owner of a 68, and I can't see the heater control needles at night. The lamp is new, and with the control rotated out of the center console, I can see the lamp is lit, but I can't see ANY light coming through the lens at night. The lens looks clear in daylight.
I don't see anything that looks like a reflector inside the heater control module, but I do see a fine coat of rust on some of the exposed steel surfaces. What is "swallowing" my light? Is there something I can do to recover?
I figured out what my problem is - I still need help. The ground wire for the heater control lamp is a separate wire returning to an unknown location. I am not getting a good ground. Does anyone know enough about the wiring harness to help me find the ground point, or do I just have to add a new ground wire?
