I'm probably a good year or more from starting a restomod. My wife and I have a deal that once a couple other things get taken care of, I can start this project. I made a few concessions with her. She preferred the C3 over the C2, so I am fine with that. She prefers a convertible also. No big deal. We also both agree on the 69-72 model years.
I'm not looking to do a numbers matching restoration, rather make a nice daily driver out of a classic car.
So, I'm signing up now to start really getting in depth and learning. I did a lot 20 years ago as I almost bought a 72 back when "VetteNet" existed.
Also not my first project car. My current daily driver is a 2011 Audi A4 Avant (wagon). Even though it is only a 2.0L 4 cylinder that was 211 HP stock at the crank, I am close to 290 HP and 340 lbft of torque at all 4 wheels now. 100 octane gas gets it 0-60 in 4.85, so not bad for a 3,600 lb wagon.
Thanks.
Nice color on the vette in your avatar. Is that original?
Yes, it is a 1972 C3 painted in Ontario Orange. I haven't seen many other C3's in person painted that color. I can find them here and there for sale on line, but hardly ever see another Ontario Orange C3.
That color is "magical" as depending on the amount of sun or light, it can go from a really bright orange to a really burnt orange or a gold color. It just is stunning in the sunsets.
I just had it painted last year for it's first repaint. Here are some pictures of the car.
I like taking pictures of the car, and that makes me want to share them. I hope you don't mind!
