Hi guys. My names David Rudd and I'm new here from Sheppard AFB in Texas. How's everybody doing?
I'm looking to treat myself to a corvette for my birthday in September, but I'm having trouble deciding on a C5 Z or a C6 GS. Need help deciding. I plan on building the car just need to know which on to buy first.
From: Denton, TX My goal in life is to be as good of a person that my dog already thinks I am.
Hi David and welcome to the forum! I was stationed at Shepard in 1982 didn't much care for the area. I had a 2003 ZO6 and they are awesome cars. The LS6 motor is solid and a great track car if that's a plan of yours. The C6 GS are very nice of course newer technology. I currently have a 2007 ZO6 and it's a beast. The LS7 427 motor is a breed of its own. I also have a 2014 Stingray. Do a search here on the forum about the C5 ZO6 vs the GS I'm certain this has been discussed before. If not you are in the right place. Many good people with lots of knowledge. Again welcome and I hope you find the right Corvette for you.

Ok will do a search. I thought about getting s C6 Z but I won't be able to build it for a while while I'm paying for it and stuff. But thanks for the info I'll start looking
I don't know 1st hand about all these differences but thought you might find it interesting if a little bit informative about these cars.
Came across this video and it might help inform you of some basics. I've heard others say the GS is a good buy for the buck but guess it depends on what you want and what you want to do with it, in your price range.

David, Here's a direct comparison between a C6 GS and a little moded C5

First let me say thank you for your service! Next, welcome to the forum and happy hunting for your car. Having owned both standard C5s, C5 Z06 and C6 Z06, I would say that you really can't go wrong with any of them. Personally, I like the raw power of the Z06!
