Hi, I`ll start by saying thank you! Been around this forum the last six months. A lot of knowledge in this forum.
My dad bought a 79 in the mid eighties, but I guess he got more intrested in his other car, a Volvo P1800ES. So it´s been in my grandfathers garage since 89. I bought the house when he passed away in 94. So now it´s my garage.
Dad started to do some brake work on it but never finished it. He started the car once or twice in the garage every year(doors open of course).
Then he got sick and passed away last November. Mom asked me what to do with car. First we talked about selling it, but I said it´s easier to sell if it starts and brakes.
So I started to do some work on it, never done any work on a car be4.
Old gas out, didn´t look like gas after 28 years. new gas filter and new gas. got it running.
Replaced all calipers and a common thing about these cars I´ve noticed is "while I´m there". So, new front end bushings, new shocks made new brake lines, new spark plugs (PITA to replace) and some other stuff.
I said to mom, it´s not for sale anymore. Fuel pump started leaking so I replaced it ( not an easy task).
Once again thank you for all help during this process. Bought the AIM and shop manual as well.
