As a new member, I look forward to being a part of this community and gleaning tons of valuable info from it's members.
I am retired and live on a lake in northern Indiana. I grew up an a farm & as the oldest child began working at a very young age...full time beginning basically at about 15 years old. I continued until medical/health issues caused me to retire. I am still an active landlord in agriculture, commercial, and residential real estate.
My wife and I recently celebrated the 49th anniversary of our first date and last Sunday was our 46th wedding anniversary. We have 2 sons...1 a foreign service officer in the U.S State Dept and 1 working in the planning dept. of a northern IN city. Neither are married and no grandkids. Have been a life long dog owner and currently reside with 3 yr. old Lucy ( Pit Bull/ Lab ) and 1 yr. old Holly ( dachshund/beagle).
Hobbies include riding my motorcycle, fishing and shooting sports. I was involved in the muscle car era of the mid to late 1960's. In 1970 I had a '42 Harley, a '54 Harley, a '65 Chevelle SS, and a '70 Monte Carlo...then I got married and started a family & business. The toys disappeared. Family and business took my time & $$ for decades.
Earlier this year I acquired an '82 Vette that a brother had previously owned. He was the second owner and died in '92. It sat until '04, was driven another 14,000 miles ( 68,000 total ), and then sat until I got it. I recently began working on it...a lot of issues. I have gotten it running, fixed numerous misc. items, did the brakes, etc. Hoping to work on it over the winter. Intentions are to keep it basically original but functional as a 'driver'. .
Have also bought a '73 convertible...matching #s, in good shape overall. Never restored but has been repainted ( acceptable but not the best job ). Last month bought a '78...totally original car with 42,000 on it. Bought new by a GM employee who passed away and his wife sold it. In excellent shape, always stored properly.
I have been away from 'wrenching' on cars for a long time, have tons to learn, but enjoying it so far. I trust the knowledge of the members of this forum will be invaluable to me going forward.
