Hello everyone. I've been a long time lurker here and finally decided to make it official and join the forum. I am 41 years old and have loved Corvettes since I was a kid. As of late, I have become more serious about buying a well cared for used Corvette sometime in the near future. Specifically I've always been a fan of the C5 but in recent times, the C6 has grown on me quite a bit, so we'll see. Currently I have an old muscle car project that I'm getting ready to sell to help finance the Vette. I really love classic muscle cars but in this day in age, to do a correct restoration, it's just too much time and money than I have to offer. I figure for less cost and less effort, I can have a nice American sports car with shiny factory paint and fulfill my childhood dream of owning a Vette. So, here I am, excited for what the future holds...
Welcome to the forum!
Best wishes with your search for the C5 or C6 right for you. As corvette.cw pointed out there are lots of great members and useful information in the C5/C6 sections.
When it comes time to buy, you may want to check the C5 and C6 For Sale sections, too.
Cheers!
Quick question.Depending on cost I'm leaning towards holding out for an 08 or newer LS3 powered vette. My question would be, were there any years of the LS3 that experienced any issues? My compare and contrast would be that I've seen it said the earlier LS1s had some piston slap and harmonic balancer issues. So, did any model years of the LS3 have any similar annoyance issues of this sort to be aware of? I'd like to avoid getting into any engine work upon a newer purchase. If any of you have links to discussions and don't want to turn the welcome thread into a tech discussion, either way would be appreciated.
