Default Hi, I'm Don

Hi, everybody. I'm Don, from South Florida. This is actually my 2nd post. The first is asking opinions on a 91 six speed coupe I'm thinking of buying.
I've been a gearhead forever, but just recently got into the idea of a vette. I love the idea of an l98 c4. They seem to me like a hybrid of old school and new school. It's primitive enough that I can change the gears without making the radio, headlights, horn, and engine quit running because "something isn't right, and I'm scared and don't know what to do." It's also "primitive" enough to not isolate me from the driving experience. When I was in the 6 speed car, I could actually hear the trans gears, like the black tag ones do. It sounded like, "We're racing soon, right? RIGHT?" The sounds of the car moving, and shifting. The sound of the engine. Stock style cat back with crossover tube. Not loud, but added rumble. Yet the car has the good parts of new school without diminishing it's dinosaur personality. Forgef aluminum control arms. Adjustable suspension. Fuel injection. Overdrive transmission, so I can swap to 4.10s and still have a decent cruise. AC. Antilock brakes. Air bag (at least for the driver). Cruise. Handling. To me it's the perfect fusion. Hopefully this car turns out to be with buying. Regardless, in sure I'll be seeing a lot more of all of you on this forum, because I definitely hear a 6 speed l98 calling me.

Thanks, guys. I've been on here constantly since I found the forum. So much info, related to what I need to know. Now if I could only find my post asking if I should buy, or run from, a car I really like... Can't find it and I'm thinking of buying the car tomorrow.

I tried to post again, and it says I can't until a mod approves it. I hope they do soon. Maybe sometime will have some advice for me.

Welcome to the Forum Don
I hope you can get that ‘91 6 speed. You can drive aeound all day in 4th gear with the torque. Just press the gas pedal a little light before you get up to speed.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I really hope it turns out to be worth buying. When I first started thinking of a vette, I started "optioning" a car exactly as I'd want it. Unfortunately, you can't really option it a used car. I realized last night that this car is exactly that car. First I wanted an l98. Then I wanted an 89-90, for the zf and the 275s. Then 90-91, for the newer interior. 😅 Then, a 91, for the upgraded insulation on the wiring harness, to hopefully avoid some electrical issues. Then, I wanted red. Then the black interior. Then, sport seats. Then, fx3. Nothing like being specific, right? I drove a lot of cars, and realized that I didn't like the aftermarket exhaust systems that were in common use, but knew I did not want to stay stock. Gotta have some rumble, you know. This car has a stock style cat back with a crossover tube just before the mufflers. It's exactly what I want. I literally would have optioned the car exactly like this, if I had ordered it new.
The only problem is that it has a few issues, and I don't know if I should be concerned about them or not.

Does anybody know how I could contact a mod so I can post my questions about the car too see if it's issues should be deal breakers, or if they are not big deals?

Don, the Mods are only for Forum issues. For vehicle issues and concerns, you can go the the C4 section, either the C4 General section https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...discussion-34/
or the C4 Tech/Performance section. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...erformance-48/

Lots of knowledgable folks.

Thanks for the reply. I just wanted a mod so that I could be approved to post in those sections. When I tried, I got a message saying I could not post until I was approved by a mod. I found one, and PM'd him.
