Hello all from East TN.
First timer on a forum, so go easy on me.
I have a 66 427 Coupe I purchased in the mid 70's, managed to restore and hold on to it to date. Does not have the original engine, unfortunately it was laying in a mud puddle beside the car with a few rods sticking out the side during the purchase. Back then it wasn't worth the effort to throw it away, or haul it home with the car.... silly me. Luckily it was replaced with a crate L-88 at the time, so I did have something to work with.
When I restored the car I rebuilt the engine to current spec (70's) at the time. It became hard to enjoy driving as the years rolled on, especially with the original 4.11 rear.
After clocking in only 6,000 miles in 40 years of it being on the road I decided to make some changes so I could start enjoying the thing in my retirement.
With that said, last year I put together a little 555 "pump-gas" motor and backed it up with a TKX 5-speed. I'm finishing the thing up now and hope to be out and around on the streets for some events this summer.
Realizing I've been out of the loop for a bit, here I am.
There looks to be a wealth of knowledge and experience on this forum and I'm pretty sure there will be some good advice provided to the old man when needed.
Thank you for your time.
Purchase an AIM and Chevrolet Factory Service Manual for your model year, you can find them on eBay. Get a bunch of Corvette Vendor Catalogs as they have detailed parts illustrations. Welcome to the hobby, you have come to the right place.
