better half and I finally purchased our corvette this past summer
(My father was a ‘car guy’…. Had a couple vettes, one of which was a ‘89 or ‘90 convertible, first of the 6 speed manuals, and while not a lot, it got to drive her a few times and was definitely hooked —- yes, showing our age a bit / falls into the stereotypical Vette purchase and I do have significant hair loss too!
looked around a bit, mostly at C6’s and quite an impulse purchase
settled in on a 2008 Indy Pace Car Ed approx 31k miles … don’t really blame her, but wife had the big ole Indy Pace car decals removed, kept the Emererson Fitapaldi signatures on the rear quarter panels and neon green pin strips on hood
honestly, a bit out of the intended price range but this one was way tighter than all the others
you can hear some suspension slop, but not too bad, and definitely does not drive like 14 yrs old, more like a 5-7 yr old vehicle, drivetrain seems solid
needless to say, we both still get a fox in the henhouse grin whenever driving her, now officially named Penelope
so far no issues other than some recently noticed drips of trans fluid which, you guessed it, gonna seek some advice from more knowledgeable folks in a subsequent thread
Penelope is a garage queen now —-the wife keeps her spotless, but we do drive her, cause otherwise, what’s the point ?
little more background (up early and avoiding getting to work)…
never met a Vette I did not like but always had a thing for the mid -60’s models — neighbor recently retired from commercial airline pilot profession and bought a 427 / 4 spd …. ‘64 I think. Got a ride in …. fast and beautiful as can be but after 10 mins or so, I hate to say I wanted out cause my body is very worn with back, knee, shoulder issues. so knew we needed something more comfortable and the C6 body has lines that remind me of the 60’s fastbacks
needless to say, the wife and I still go into the garage merely to admire our new girl and her beautiful body
Welcome to the Forum and congratulations to you and your wife on your C6!
See that you have already posted your trans leak question in the C6 section; great place to start. Hopefully you will receive some great insight from members there and that there will be a simple and inexpensive fix.
Wishing you both many smiles in many miles of C6 motoring!
