Default Too flashy

Hello all, I'm looking for an affordable sports car , and practical. I only have a work truck , it can double as a dailey grocery getter. I like the Corvette, but thinking it's to flashy as a dailey driver. I'd like to put my GMC Sierra as a strictly work vehicle. So don't know how to justify a Corvette as my car purchase?. I'm trying 😁.
ps 6 speed manual is a must for me and around $15k. Seems hard to find 🤔
PS, I kind of like the SLK 320 or 350 in a 6speed manual also,, no comparison between the two I imagine , except rear wheel drive and 6 speed available. MPGs are a must for me also. Thanks in advance for any advice ..

Go drive a Corvette, then you will know why they are special cars and once you drive one you fall in love like the rest of us did, no there car handles like the Corvette.

Welcome and the best way you will know if a Corvette is right for you is to go out and test drive a number of cars. Are Corvettes kind of flashy, sure, but they do make for some good daily drivers as evidenced by the number of forum members that do use them that way. And why worry what others think - the only one that has to be satisfied with driving a Corvette is you.

In todays market, finding a nice car for $15K may be somewhat of a challenge, but I would bet there are some out there. Try narrowing down just what generation of Corvette appeals to you and then concentrate on your search.

Good luck to you.

Welcome to the Forum!
Excellent advice from the two members above, as far as driving one to see what you think about a Corvette, but….if you really feel one is too flashy why even consider it?
In cars, as with many other things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Or, in this case, “flashy” is in the eye of the beholder, etc.
Many members may daily drive their Corvette because it is their only vehicle. And, many will try to keep their car low mileage, and spotless and only drive it when there is no rain forecasted, or blowing sand, or whatever. To each his/her own.
I would imagine you can even find drivers of a GMC Sierra who have added different features to their truck that others may find flashy. Have you noticed that someone could get out of any vehicle with a swagger and attitude that says, “I am proving I am cool”, while others get out of a vehicle with an attitude that says, “ I am respectful of the fact I get to be the caretaker of this vehicle for awhile.”
As 1bdvet suggested, if you are at all interested in a Corvette daily driver, try driving one and see what you think. You may find you still consider it too flashy or you may find it is a great little grocery getter. Either way you have answered your question.
And, I endorse Vetteman Jack’s comment, “the only one who has to be satisfied with driving a Corvette is you.”
Now….go get yourself a Corvette.

Great responses up there, I do see your all over the place in terms of what you want.. there is no catchall do it all anything. I would add you need to get laser focused on what you want and go for that no matter what it takes. I think you can find something in that price range, but I would maybe do research on what you actually want and devise a plan to maybe get a little more money to spend. It will open up your options more 15k a little light I think

Not too flashy? Around $15k? Sounds like a C4 could be in your future.
That generation ran from '84 to '96, and starting in '89 you could get a 6-speed...

I agree with one 1bdvet, go drive one. You will be amazed at how the C4s forward hug the road in the corners. that and the stoplight to stoplight is fun. And in the 'vette you are getting that V8 rumble. Happy hunting.

Welcome, I'd say if MPGs are a "must" as you said, I think it may be a bit of a challenge since they're V8 sports cars. Don't expect much in terms of miles. However, they're very fun cars and I hope you find a good one to enjoy!
