Hi John from NC,

I always thought it was cool that our C5 shares the same “birthday” as our anniversary (same day and month but 18 years after our wedding), but your information blows our little birthday/anniversary thing out of the water!!

You were definitely meant to have that car!

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Two of the cars, I owned only about 3 months, the 59 just wasn't my cup of tea, bought it from a friend that was a dealer, he took it back. My 65 Coupe, I bought from a dealer, who bought it from a body shop in Newburgh, NY. The FBI came knocking on my door. Turns out that body shop would buy totaled cars, steal one that was a close match, move over the VIN plate, sell the car. The FBI had me bring the car in to be checked. They kept disassembling my car till they found the real VIN. I had my suspicions, after I owned the car about 2 months, I ordered some dash ***** to replace worn ones. They kept coming in wrong. Turns my car was really a 66. The body shop even cut in the grills on the body to make it look like a 65. The FBI handed me a receipt for the car and drove me home. Total loss for me.
How did I get involved in Corvette's? Two stories, A friend that I worked with also worked at a used car dealer on the weekend. He told a few of us car guys that they had gotten in a 1966 427 cu in, 425 hp, 4 speed, with the required side pipes and said come up for a test drive. I drove it around the block and never got out of second gear. This was the day I became a lifetime Corvette man!
Second Corvette Story, in 1968, when the 68 Corvette first came out I was in basic training at Fort Dix, NJ. No dealership had a 68 but Malcom Konnor Chevrolet / Corvette in Paramus, NJ, had 8. I called them to find out how to get from Fort Dix to Paramus to see them? They said, no problem, we'll send a car! Class Act. I went, I looked, I liked. I didn't get one there but about 2 years later, I bought my first Corvette, a used 1968 Silver Corvette Convertible,
I have many other Corvette stories from my 50+ years "saving the wave" like most of you.
