Default Smog question

I'm thinking about moving back to Denver and am wondering what the smog laws are on an 81 vette. Does anyone know if a zz4 without an egr will be legal? Thanks

an 81 will only require a tailpipe test. as long as you are running cats you should be ok......

Can't vehicles get a classic plate if they are over 25 years old and avoid the emissions test hassle?

to get classic plates in colorado you must pass an emmissions test the first time and then you will not need one when you renew in 5 years....

Don’t forget all model year 1975 and newer vehicles shall be visually inspected for the presence and operability of the air system, catalytic converter system(s) and oxygen (O2) systems as originally equipped by the manufacture.
If an engine swap has been preformed the car must be taken to a state run emissions technical center for evaluation.

Damn Ed, they just changed this law. Our fine elected officials in action.

5 Year Collector Passenger plates are available for motor vehicles that are model year 1975 or earlier or motor vehicles with a model year 1976 or later that were registered as a collector's item prior to September 1, 2009 which are not to be used in a commercial manner. All taxes and fees shall be five times the annual taxes and fees normally assessed.

I live just north of denver. We're on the southern edge of Weld county. No emissions testing. If you're thinking of relocating, might be an option. About 25 mins to downtown from where I live.
