Mike-
The event magazine hasn't gone to print yet, but we're getting close to the deadline. Let me know if you'd like for me to put something into our schedule of events. If so, I'll be sure to get it handled on our end. Just let me know the time you plan on having the picture taken.

I need some input. A brief history:
For the past 8 years or so, the CF clan has tried to get together at the Corvettes at Carlisle event. It seems to revolve around two specifics... a group photo, and a group dinner.
Over the years the participation has dropped off. So I gotta ask... is it worth it to try and get the group together this year there ?
Group Photo
Originally the group photo was held Saturday in front of the grandstands (between the grandstands and the stage). I can remember 40-55 CF members gathering for that photo early on.
Then it was mentioned that some were there only on Friday; so we setup an additional group photo Friday:
Even the legendary PeterK showed up !!!
the Vette Chicks would have a similar GTG:
Group Dinner
This was held Friday evening; setup by a forum member that either lived in the area... or knew the area well enough to get us a section at a local restaurant for our CF group:
So, what's the point ??? Participation has slowly dropped off over the years. Last year we had 4-5 show for the Friday Group Photo... about 10-15 for the Saturday pic. And we didn't bother with a dinner GTG either.
I know that all good things eventually come to an end; is it time to end the CF Get-To-Gether at Carlisle? We can't ask persons to step forward and set these events up if there's not enough people attending to make it worthwhile.
I need your input on this; please address the two aspects seperately
1. Group Photo
* still do it; or has it's time passed ?
* Is Saturday still the best day? (we've had these at 12:30pm)
2. Group Dinner
* still do it; or has it's time passed? This has generally been held on Friday evening.
For Saturday evening - a lot of national Corvette Groups have their dinners/banquets on that night - this is why the CF dinner was held on Friday evening... to increase attendance.
What does CF think; if you're there but missed these in the past, what were the reasons (bad timing on the day/time selected?)

still need your ideas and input.
Right now, looks like we'll continue with the Fri & Sat group photo... AND a Friday evening CF dinner.
Once things get finalized, I'll start a new post with all the info/dates/times.
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU !!!

I say GET A TENT! How many members does this Forum have? If DC can buck up for a tent, why not CF?
"Meet me at the bleachers" doesn't garner much pride in being associated with CF.
Besides, how do you recruit new members if you have no presence? Maybe it's not a concern, I don't know.
I have no idea what kind of revenue a website like this generates, but if I wanted to attract NEW vendors and NEW members, I would spend a few $$ and have a display tent (with shade!). An area for CF members to congregate and maybe buy some CF merchandise. Maybe an UPGRADE to PREMIUM SPECIAL only good during Carlisle.
Have a big CF Banner or poster "Corvette Forum @ Carlisle 2010" that CF members can sign when they visit the tent, then offer the finished poster with all the sigs on it as a Commemorative Limited Print that can be purchased through the CF site when they come available. Still do the group pic, but do it at the tent, with CF signage in the background.
Have a car and a raffle...you'll need a permit, but you can sell more $$ in tickets than the car is worth PLUS, anyone at the event can buy tickets. You could even pre-sell the raffle tickets on CF. Generate interest, generate $$$ for CF!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot and Hooters girls or Venus swimwear babes or similar.....LOL

there is so much going on that weekend, you'll have a hard time getting a time for everyone. for example, i show my cars in the NCCC area, so i'm in the middle of being judged when the Sat. picture is taken. i know some other people work at the NCRS tent. and i'm sure people will be on the dyno and and getting things installed or maybe even getting autographs. so the best things will be to just set a time and understand at something this large, you won't please everyone.

I don't think DC is having a tent this year since Patrick sold the forum. But who knows.
