Default C5 Service Question

I have about 18K miles on my 2002 and at the end of this month my original warranty will be out. I plan on getting an extended warranty. Besides getting an oil change should I have the dealer do the 15K service update. What is involve in that. And what should I expect to pay. Should I have them bother with the column recall. I have a mn6. Is there anything else that I should get done while I am there.

Sammy,

18K thats it? Though my 01 has only 13K on it I am sure I will be catching you soon.

do you have the CLB in yet? If not I would have the recall done and then purchase the CLB. There is a very good chance that one day you walk out and find your CL and you are then stuck.

As far as the general check up I am not sure what they do. If it is change oil, change other fluids and look around the car then I would think there is no harm in doing it, but of course it would be less expensive to have your local shop do that stuff if you have a mechanic that you can trust.

Default Extended Warentee

FYI,

A word of caution, if your getting the GM Warentee Extended with the GM Warentee, make sure you complete the transaction BEFORE yours runs out. You will save a lot of money.

You can get a 4 Year, 32K mile from Fichtner for under $1,000. Check Kens Newsletters under the Forums down arrow. A lots of Forum Members use them for extensions.

best of luck,

2002 and 18K I have 18K and its a 2004. As far as the 15K checkup, its all the filters, oil, lube, top off fluid's, fuel additive (ejector cleaner), Balance tires, chk belts/hoses etc. It cost me over $375 at RAMP. I had em do it only because I just don't have the time.

As far as the CL, you should have them do it on a standard as they actually fix it (on A4's they bypass it) and you don't want it locking up on you. Don't think they reprogram PCM (A4's they do, which will write over a tune, if you have one) on standards but check it out first.
