At this point I do not want the car this car anymore. .... I do not know how far this can be pushed. I might have to get ride of the car on my own and take a beating on it. I still can not believe that I have to sit with the car until GM calls me back. ...
Contact National Transportation Safety Board or whomever tracks auto failures (like the Firestone tire problem a couple of years ago). Ask for help.
Also, tell your insurance co. you won't/can't/GM said, "don't drive the car" then rent a comparible car and cross your fingers when this all gets resolved you'll be reimbursed for the rental as part of the settlement.
Unfortunately (but fortunately for you) nothing serious happened, therefore generally there is probably no case, other than physical car damage.
But get it in writing, that GM wants you to STOP DRIVING THE CAR. In fact, anything and everything they say to you should be confirmed in writing. At least record all your conversations if you can.
Tell them of your plan to rent a comparible car because they don't want you to drive. 'Comparible' is a KEYWORD here. Once my Cadillac Coupe DeVille was totaled because of some idiot. They wanted to rent me a Pinto or some such crap. I told them no way, I bought the Cadillac for the security it provided in case of a crash, so I was allowed to rent another Cadillac instead!
Thank you all for your input on this matter. I will stay on GM and I will rent a Comparible car. I have been documenting all my conversations with GM and the two that I had with the dealer. Hopefully they will come to sense on this. Will let you all know what the outcome is on this matter.....Stay tune. Thank you all
Glad you didn't get hurt. It's from reading things like this, I bought the CL Bypass, and won't go near the dealer.
Best of luck, I'm very curious to see how this is going to pan out.
Well, GM called me this morning to get a second report from me as to what happened. They are now going to get an independent inspector to inspect my Vett. The inspection will have to be done at a local delaership. Which I'm fine with as long as it does not have to go to the dealer that did the so call recall repair. Still not sure who is going to pay for damages that may have occured GM or dealer.
Meaning what exactly??? What makes it not work with some cars??
Well, with my car, everytime I installed it, the water temperature guage would peg out. This was with 3 different CLBs. And before you say it was me, I have installed several on other cars with no problem, including a 2000 Coupe that I owned.

Barry I have heard that some people with cars prior to 01 have problems with the CLB.
If the car is an A4 then the entire plate should be taken out. If it is a MN6 then they just do some magic and say that it works.
I am not 100% positive that the recall covers all cars prior to 2000. I thought that I read it only covered certain VIN#s and if this is not one of them then I am not sure what you can do.
This is the first incident I have heard that it locked after the car has been driven. Prior to this I only heard that it locked and still allowed the driver to move the car because the gas did not shut off (locked upon starting not after it was moving). The recall should have at the very least cut the fuel when the lock was activated.
The first time that this happened to me was at a parking spot. Once the car was dropped off at the dealer for the recall, the tow truck driver and I could not keep the car running for more that 20 to 30 seconds. So it did work. Last friday when I hit the curb I can't say that the fuel shut off because it happened so fast. Now GM just told me that it can take up to two weeks to get an independent inspector to look at my car to see what the problem is and who is going to be held liabale for it. Two weeks. This will be a month long issue when all said and done....

It's actually the first time it has happened to ANYBODY
Update....My car is going to another Chevy dealer so the independent inspector can inspect the steering loack. I'm going to have my car towed to the dealer for the inspection and then after the inspection the car will need to be towed back to my house until I hear back from GM. Some people from the dealer said that I would be lucky and that they would be surprise if I get my car back before the end of the summer. Not to mention that the towing is coming out of my pocket.

Make sure you keep a detailed journal and keep all the receipts. You never know what the future holds.
