Yeah! Good luck with that. I once showed a Paramus cop my brother's Westchester cop mini-badge, and Get Out Of Jail Free Card. The nice POWA (Police Officer With Attitude) told me, "That doesn't mean anything around here."
I've been down to DC with my 'vette several times. Once you stay on the main roads, they're much better than NYC. Parking is not an issue....if you're staying in a good hotel, the valet usually takes good care of the car. Food - recommend the Palm Restaurant, Melrose (at the Park Hyatt); Georgetown has some cool restaurants also. "Entertainment" - don't touch anyone/anything in the town!!!
Also been to DC in the vette a couple of times, remember Prowler guy--he lives in Virginia, so we hung out around the White House plenty of times. Just make sure you leave the car in a parking lot, parking in the street is a no-no and usually too tight anyway. Georgetown is a great, fun place night life is good. If you want any more info, you know the usual --strip clubs, nightclubs, etc. let me know and I will ask him for you! Have fun!
I just confirmed a Business trip to Washington DC on Thursday / Friday of this week, and I am wondering if I should take the vette or my daily commuter. Last month I took the vette to Albany and that was my longest trip by far. I did map quest and the trip is about 4 1/2 hours long. For those of you whom have taken your car on long trips, how was it? Is there a ferry that I could used to get there also?
BTW where are the best pubs in DC also.
I'm sure you will find some ferrys down there
How are you survive 4 1/2 hour drive without alcohol?

Is that right? I've done that a few times. As long as you can get back and forth to the stations on each end, it's actually better than flying - at least from here.
Plus, you might be sitting next to an unsuspecting Slim for a few hours, as a side benefit.

I have to go to Best Buy tonight and get a PC wireless card. How the hell would I survive without the fourm in DC.
D.C. police chief’s car stolen
Thieves grab ’99 Ford Crown Victoria

WASHINGTON - District of Columbia Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey has personal insight into the city’s car theft problem. His unmarked black 1999 Ford Crown Victoria was stolen near his home.
“When he went to go to the car to go to church (Sunday), he discovered that it was missing,” police spokesman Sgt. Joe Gentile said Monday.
The vehicle had been parked near Ramsey’s home by a police officer Friday evening while the chief was out of town. Some police equipment, including a riot helmet and some clothing were in the car, but there were no weapons, Gentile said.
My son and I took the vette to S.C. a couple of months ago. It is a great cruiser and made the trip that much more fun. I used the 10 over rule and never had any LEOs to talk to. If you have secure parking in Washington why not have some fun .
Should I mention that the only time in the 7+ years I had my C5 that it left me stranded was in DC?
A wire shorted to the starter, which seized it in the engaged position, and seized the motor. The short also melted a few things. Needless to say, I flew home and had to go back a few days later to get the car.
