Default Rt. 3 proving grounds

While driving home from work the other night from the Clifton area on Rt 3, I get cut off by a bunch off crotch rockets traveling 100 plus mph. My heartbeat temporarily froze since they were inches from my car. Not to far up ahead, they're popping wheelies in traffic at this speed. I'm starting to see this stupidity a few nights a week now. And the news wants to give vette owners a bad rap. Bad enough I have to look at all these makeshift memorials on the side of Rt. 3 everyday, I now have to deal with the BIKER BOYZ testing out their skills in what is turning into the biker's version of Woodward Avenue. Does anyone else travel 3 and deal with these idiots? Just wanted to vent

I think since Rt. 21 has had more than its share of motorcycle deaths, they're trying to stick to Rt. 3 to even up the statistics. I've been dealing with them for a while now, especially when Rutts Hut has their bike night. That's when you'll have swarms of sport bikes trying to push the envelope.

About two years ago, after a bike night, I witnessed someone fall off the back of a bike as the driver decided to try a wheelie. I wasn't on the same side of the highway, but it looked like it was a girl taking the dive. Hell of a date.

The problem is, a lot of irresponsible kids with the desire to go fast for cheap buy bikes and have little idea on how to properly operate them resulting in life changing injuries and even deaths.

It seems that many of the idiots have NY plates and are usually headed west. Probably when the Hooters of Wayne cruise nite is going on. I think Rutt's Hutt is more of the older Harley crowd.

If I'm not mistaken, Route 3 is where we lost our dear brother Romolo in his '00 C5, he was my00c5 on the forum.

It is not just in NJ. Last year on a road trip I was in Ohio getting gas and I hear this kid redline his bike at a 4 way stop and take off doing a wheelie. There was a car show going on in a parking lot of a restaurant and I seen his head turn at the crowed as he must have been look at me, I am cool. About two seconds later I hear a big bang, and I look at my friend and I am like no f'ing way. The kid ran right into the back of a blazer. I grabbed my camera and my friend dialed 911. Good thing for him there was people who knew what they were doing at the car show as far as first aid. I went over towards him and he was not moving and unconscious. At first I thought he could be a goner, it is a sick feeling to witness that. Then he did come around and was answering questions. Good thing he had a helmet. Here is a link to some pics:

I live in Rutherford and can hear the bikes on Rts. 3 and 21 just about every night. You can tell that they are traveling at a high rate of speed.

It's really funny since I work retail, I travel these roads 21 and 3 at all different hours and almost never see speed traps.

On 21 you can just open up, almost never seen any one pulled over or police cars on it.

I live right off rt3 and yes, I see 'em all the time, plus on the TPK Nothing new though...Here's a story...a guy was riding on 95 /TPK area near Ft Lee,the NJ State Troopers were trying to stop him for speeding, and there is a hill there, he was going 100+mph, got to the hill crest, traffic was stopped, he hit the car that was stopped in front of him, and his body flew 100 ft forward. The family sued the state and said if they weren't chasing him this wouldnt have happened! They sued and won So in other words no one is responsible for their actions I guess....now the Troopers are ordered not to give chase to any bike that is speeding excessively.... and these biker boyz always have their plates mounted illegaly, or the bend them back to make them unreadable. Do that sh*t on a track, not on public roads...

OK, here's some info:

Rt 21 has routine speed traps by the Passaic County Sheriff's Dept, the Passaic Police Dept, and the Clifton Police Dept.

I can not count how many times I have been there on MVA's, and numerous fatals as well.

As far as Rt 3, about two summers ago we responded to a mortorcycle MVA on the eastbound side right across from Barnes & Noble. It looked like some idiot was weaving at "excessive speed", along with his a-hole buddies. Had a girl on the back too. They skipped along the highway until they stopped, a good 75-100 feet from where they went down.

The latest shrine on the westbound side just after the Shell station was from another jackazz that bought it when he took the pole out. Going at least a hundred-plus in his Celica, he went full bore into the pole, no skid marks. The ENGINE and TRANS got ejected out of the vehicle about 75 feet into the woods. He got ejected out and was lying dead in the highway.

I personally think these shrines should be outlawed. This is something you never use to see, and is an eyesore. A little respect, maybe some flowers from the family; however, something that is continually updated and kept there for the world to see forever is disturbing. I myself would rather not remember some of the things I have had to witness, being constantly reminded of that every time I drive past somewhere.

That's because the police are usually chasing them down into Newark.

It's about 50/50 now. Sometimes the local "biker boyz" clubs meet there on any given night.

I would rather replace these shrines honoring iresponsibility with shrines for our U.S. servicemen who have been killed overseas. They are more deserving of the exposure.

They make our roads look like something out of a third-world country.

A pretty recent shrine(week or two ago) is on the GSP north just about 100 yards from the 151 exit it's huge, must have been a mess,

And as far as Rt3 it's amazing to me how those bikes can get up any speed it seems every time on there the traffic is barely doing the speed limit, and wait till the Xandua complex is built, talk about a parking lot

its against attorney general guidelines to engage in a pursuit for a motor vehicle violation.
