I received this today from a colleague, the originator was @judiciary.state.nj.us:
New Jersey will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers overtime. There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways.
They are the following:
I-295 north and south
1-95 (Jersey Turnpike) north and south
1-80 east and west
I-287 north and south
I-78 east and west
I-195 east and west
1-280 east and west
Rt. 130 north and south
Garden State Parkway north and south
Now 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time.
Now this just sucks.....especially since everyone knows it's just to raise money. If everyone travels at 5mph or less than the posted speed limit...........watch the traffic back-ups. Even the non-speeders are going to suffer. I was on the Jersey Pike Wednesday coming home from ECS (great bunch of guys) and everyone was doing 75mph....safely. It's the "A" Holes the police should be looking for, like the jerk that crossed 3 lanes of traffic all at once because he was busy talking on his cell phone and almost missed his exit.
Isn't that illegal??? If the sender of the email turns out to be someone who really does work for the state, I'm sure the local news stations would love to hear about this.
I hate driving in Jersey!and i used to drive for a living down there!!!Those troopers are some nasty attitude m.f.'s!!!Like we did something to them personally!from all the way back in 1980 something, they haven't changed!!!
They got me back in April in an unmarked crown vic with the laser. I never had a problem with troopers attitudes, they were just doing there job and gave me a brake more times then they wrote me a ticket for speeding.
The thing that I don't like is the unmarked cars have tinted front windows, and that is illegal, they should have to abide by the same laws as every else.
well, maybe they;re just nasty to out of state drivers.I never met one with a decent attitude!I mean,a ticket is a ticket, not the end of the world.pay the fine and be done with it.these guy;s always have some wisecrack, bad *** remark to make, etc.anyway, not looking to get into a debate here.different experiences for all...

A ticket is NOT just a ticket. Do you realize what a TICKET does to insurance rates? A simple TICEKT can cost THOUSANDS over three years, till it goes away.
and have it pled down to something other than speeding.although,i haven't had one in a few years. It is costly if you don't try to find an alternate solution!oh,and here in new york it stays on for something like 48 months or something, with the insurance! So,yea,i do know what it costs!

That depends on your insurance company, and I don't remember all the details, but I believe if you have something like 4 points or less within a three year periods they can't raise your rate. There is some sort of tiered system, also depends on your age. If you get a ticket when you are under 21 it can cost you on your insurance.
I have NJM and they do not raise your rates for the occasional ticket. I was looking at 7 points with 2 tickets back in April, I got a lawyer, one ticket dismissed and the other pleaded down to a two point ticket. Took the AAA driver safety class a few weeks ago, got rid of the last two points and I get a discount for 3 years on my insurance.
The other BS thing is the state surchage for having over 6 points and they look back three years.
I've never had trouble with Troopers, of course most of them I delivered all their goods to while they were going through teh Academy and my ex wife has friends who's brothers are troopers and I've met a few from this forum and out on the road. They are always polite and courteous to me, but I'm always polite and courteous to them.
The last time I got pulled over was when Supercharger John blasted past a trooper at 130mph and he pulled me over instead. No ticket because he couldn't prove it was me, all he saw was two red vettes, one speeding and one not.
I don't travel the roads mentioned above to often anyway but when I do, I'm usually one of the slow guys.
Get this, if you do the speed limit in heavy traffic, every other jerkoff is trying to get around you and usually you end up passing them back and you never changed your speed. You know the old saying, "The hurrier you are, the behinder you get"? Well that's NJ traffic for you.
You have to plan your trips accordingly and allow for the traffic.
Slow moving traffic is still moving, stopped traffic because 5 Mustangs piled up into each other is because some jerk was trying to get somewhere in a hurry when he knows it can't be done.
Speeding tickets for our safety.....BS! But we always knew it was just about the revenues.
I'll be taking the GSP to AC Sun. pm but I too will be one of those slow guys, with cruize set at the posted while most others are scrambling to get around me. Traffic mostly flows at around 65-70mph all along the GSP, meanwhile I'm "cruzin" along at 55 in the middle section.
