here is what Alex posted in a previous thread
Time: Between 7:30am - 11 am
Place: Captree State Park, LI, New York
Directions: From West of Captree - take the meadowbrook parkway or the Wantagh south to Ocean Parkway, follow Ocean Parkway all the way to the end where you'll see the Captree State Park sign, pull into the parking lot at the end of the road. From the east, you can take the Robert Moses Parkway over the Robert Moses Causeway and get off on the Captree State park exit after the bridge.
Place: Captree State Park, LI, New York

Take southern state to the meadowbrook south, which turns to ocean parkway take ocean parkway east until it ends (the parkway ends at the park)
* fyi - while it may be tempting to..ehhem..speed up a little (not that I would ever be guilty of doing such a thing
keep your eyes open for copsanother way to go there is take southern state parkway to the Robert Moses causway - after you go over the 1st bridge you'll see the sign for Captree State Park (not captree island)
Captree is an early event with most of us getting there by 8

Yeah! The turnout has been huge lately. I guess everyone keeps thinking "this Sunday is the last warm day for a while".
But, Mother nature keeps giving us another Sunday, then another and another..... Thankyou Mother Nature!
Yep! 8-11 Captree is the place to be. The ride is always a pleasure especially if there are some Porsches the Z can eat for breakfast on the Way. The Z is always hungry....
