Speaking of not enough driving experience, my son's GTI got bitch-slapped by an Escalada on the Palisades Parkway this afternoon. He got stuck between a truck coming in from an on-ramp and the Escalade in the left lane. Still not enough experience to know when to back off and just let on-ramp *ssholes have their way.

Driving here in the NY/NJ area (especially NJ) is most different than when I grew up in Minnesota, or even PA. Minnesota was great 'cuz there were all these dirt roads where you could just let the tail swing out, and there wasn't another car around for miles to get in your way. Seems here there's always a soccer mom in an SUV just looking for a way to jump in front of you and then slow down.
Just part of the local culture I guess

You should try driving in Manila! OMG! It's a test of guts. Basically, if the nose gets in first, you have the right of way. The buses and trucks drive the same EXACT way!
