Same here.. we would go out play.. come home eat go back out.. No cell phones.. my mother would just whistle and we had to come home.
Today kids are taught how to play. How did that happen?
Wow - that brought back a memory - my uncle (RIP) lived right accross the street. When he wanted his daughter to come home or for that matter any of us - he would go out and whistle. You could hear it for blocks!
I just drove back through the neighborhood this past week - 1st time in about 5 years. I used to know every house and what kids lived there. Now don't know hardly any of them.

I did that that last weekend ! It's 100 miles from here.
I seen 2 kids riding bikes that was it.
We had tons of kids running around crazy all the time.
Building forts and play dolls. Snow ball fights with at least 30 kids playing at a time. It was a great place to be a kid!
I got to hold Miranda the other day who is Doug from ECS's baby. What a cutie (looks like Christie ). Babies are the best but I'm gonna have to wait for grand kids before another little one is in the house.
We see the youngest one the most often now since she lives in SC, we have 5 in Oregon, 3 in Germany and our youngest son in SC, his SO has a 10 yr old that we see fairly often.

Play dates - when did that get so big. I used to go out the door after breakfast and had to be home or call when the street lights went on.
Played some form of ball (base, foot, basket) for hours and hours on end at the park or school.
Must have been after my kids were grown, because they never had playdates.

Except for the snowball fights, we didn't get snow where I grew up.
